BROTHER @ Mid Winter Festival (Feb 08)
2 festivals we remember fondly from years past, behind us again. midwinter festival in valley forge with drews delightful folks. and the north texas irish fest, first played when brother fergus was still with us. being made to feel truly welcome and at home makes leaving home worthwhile ... the new BROTHER feels exciting and, well ... new. we were joined on stage at valley forge by brother rick kurek and jamsie of albanach for a couple of the celtic romps. and the lovely ashley macleod lent her haunting fiddle to take me down. the downtown harvest show later that week was a treat. rick, drew and i joined the fellas for a big band version of the unknown. played that one countless times but never felt it quite like that before ... and so, we find ourselves getting back 'out there', gradually getting known again. much has changed since we first began doing all of this. some door open, others don't and it is all good. i find that concerns me less and less. we do what we do and i can honestly say i'm enjoying it more than ever ... this weekend dalbo,drew and i play vegas. it's been a few years. a couple of days in the grownups disneyland is all i need. then back to the sublime for me. we'll be sharing a stage with the young dubs at the hard rock. i've always enjoyed keiths voice and songs. we first crossed paths with the dubs in the early nineties. much guiness has flown under the bridge since those 'fair city' days... meanwhile, i begin the moving process. in short, i feng shui my life. something i've long planned. and now i've the perfect reason. as i contemplate a whole new life, i sort thru years of band history. i reorganize. i re file. i reassess. i cull. feels good. it is still winter here but today it could be summer. on with the feng ... angus
